Dallas Weekend

Whew!!  The score of the Razorback/ Aggie game was a little closer than I really wanted it to be!!  We had a ball, literally, in Dallas.  We had never been to Cowboy Stadium, but had heard all the hype, and let me tell you it lived up to every single smidgen of it!

Friday afternoon, we left Clarksville and drove about 2 1/2 hours to Krebs, Oklahoma, which is on the outskirts of McAlester.  Our friends, Shelly and Steven, had promised us some authentic Italian food and they definitely delivered on their promise!  Pete's Place didn't disappoint us AT ALL.  There is a ton of history going on in this restaurant and the food was incredible.  I wish I could have taken pictures, but the lighting didn't permit.  It was an old, two-story yellow house that looked like it had been added on to 5 or 10 times.  Each party is seated in a separate room, so it felt cozy.  Spaghetti and ravioli were served family-style along with the meal.  Joe almost dropped his jaw when I didn't order Fettuccine Alfredo, but for some reason I had steak on the brain and ordered Filet Mignon.  It was delicious and I wasn't sorry at all for skipping the Alfredo.

The next morning we headed toward Dallas and made it there around noon.  It was a HUGE sports weekend for Texas.  Joe said there were several home games being played in that area.  The Texas Rangers were in the playoffs, right next door to Cowboy Stadium, so there was a fair amount of traffic.  We were lucky that the Rangers game didn't start until 4 and ours started at 2:30.

Here is the Ranger's Stadium

and another view from much further away...

Here are some pictures from inside the stadium

I think my VERY FAVORITE part of the entire trip was the half time performance by the Texas A&M band.  It was just amazing...no other words to explain it.

Here is a short clip.

I wish I could have recorded the entire performance, but trust me, it was really cool!!

We eventually won the game and here is a picture of the presentation of the trophy.

This is a picture from the JUMBO-tron, but I had to take this picture because of #91-Jake Bequette.

That night we ate at The Silver Fox, in Grapevine, Texas.  It was a neat place too.  Again, I ordered the Filet....yum!!!  REALLY tender.

It was a fun weekend.  Anna has a ballgame on Thursday night and this weekend Jake has a ballgame on Saturday.  We LOVE this time of year, but it is really busy around here.

Bye for now....

Finally Friday

(added pictures at bottom of post)

Yesterday Jake had his first parent-teacher conference of the year...I have to admit, I wasn't too excited about it.  Tuesday Anna had her conference and had made all A's.  That afternoon, Jake worked on his homework for an hour after school, then, after his ballgame he stayed up until 11:30 doing homework, then woke up at 6 Wednesday morning to finish.  Needless to say, I wasn't too happy with the load of homework he has been having.  I wonder if these teachers even communicate.  The way his class is set-up, he has one class that stays together for the entire day and they just rotate to 3 different teachers.  Seems to me (insert nasty face) that they could communicate a little better.  But, back to parent-teacher conferences...I was pleasantly surprised that Jake had all A's as well.  Made all that homework seem, well, a little easier to swallow.

Today we don't have school, which I am very thankful for.  I instructed Jake and Joe last night before bed that if they even looked my direction this morning I was gonna unleash a curse on them!!  Jake came in from Gran and Papa's around 7:15 and went straight upstairs and Joe was extra quiet taking his shower....to NO AVAIL!!!!   I was WIDE AWAKE at 6:45 and tried for 30 minutes to go back to sleep!!  Decided I might as well be doing something constructive, so I got up and began my daily chores!  It is something I will never understand.  Why is it that on days that we don't have to get up, our eyes pop open like someone threw a glass of cold water on me, but Monday morning, Joe will have to poke me a minimum of 15 times to get me to move a muscle?  Guess it is something that will never make sense to me.

Yesterday I finally got to play in my craft room and I had a really good time.  Made a card for a sweet friend and made her some note cards and a grocery/errand list-type pad that she can stick to the refrigerator.  I didn't take a picture of the pad or the note cards because her name is imprinted on them and not so sure how happy she would be with everyone seeing her name on the internet, but here is her birthday card....

It was a fun card.  I adapted it from a Christmas card I saw here.  Today I hope to make her a cake...I'll post pictures depending on how well it turns out!!!!

Tonight we are going out with friends to a place in Russellville called Hog Wild.  It is kind of a Chuck-E-Cheeses for older kids.  They have go-carts, putt-putt golf, etc.  Our friend is thinking of having a birthday party there, so we are going with them to check it out.  Should be fun!  Pictures will probably be taken!

Not much else on the agenda for this weekend...Joe said we may fertilize/winterize the yard and get ready for winter, but I don't know for sure.  Glad we are staying close to home though.  Next weekend we will travel to Dallas to watch the Razorbacks play Texas A&M.  The Aggies played Oklahoma State last night and lost to them by a field goal in the last 2 seconds, so they will be ready to play us, I'm sure.

Better get cookin'  Hope you have a great weekend!!

Bye for now....

I even had a few extra minutes to run down to Mr. Taylor's Produce and pick up some pumpkins...
